Illustration and Design, working with Pen and Ink and Digitally
I work as a freelance illustrator and as a freelance art tutor. I begun my career with fashion illustration and have since worked in design, in editorial and in publishing working with a wide range of clients both locally and nationally.
I would describe my style as playful and colourful and my work has also been licensed for greeting cards, social stationery, textiles and children’s art.
In addition, I have worked with an animation studio creating the illustrations for a proposed children’s series for the BBC.
I have illustrated a number of books and during the pandemic, when unfortunately my freelance teaching work was put on hold, I wrote a book. Made By Hand At Home draws on my experience as an illustrator and as an art tutor and it celebrates the creative potential of everyday life. The book was written for parents, educators and anyone interested in the visual arts.
I have been very grateful for the opportunities that have arisen following the publication of the book in 2021. They have included both 2D and 3D exhibitions at York Hospital and more recently a series of illustration workshops for adults at York Art Gallery.
